“The Coalition for Luggage Security was established to ensure the safety of travelers through alternate means of luggage transportation. The Coalition consists of prominent businesspersons and companies that educate the public, Congress and the Administration on the importance of solving the luggage and cargo safety issues that exist in airlines and airports.”

Or more realistically…they are a group of private luggage companies who want you to ship your luggage ahead instead of letting the airline take it with you.

Coalition for Luggage Security Strikes Again

We have an issue with the Coalition for Luggage Security for their outrageous claims to sell a currently marginal service. The Coalition began an ad campaign last month(see below) in Washington newspapers. They want to draw attention to the tens of thousands of pieces of lost luggage. They commented on the evacuation of Terminal F…

Summer Security Funtime

Our ‘friends’ at the Coalition for Luggage Security are trying to scare us into giving their sponsors money to transport our luggage separately from ourselves. In a recent press release, ‘Travel Fears Proving to be True’, they comment that “in the wake of these events our nation’s airports have stepped up security, but the threat…

More News from the Coalition and Shipping Ahead

The Coalition for Luggage Security once again sounded its trumpet call to require travellers to voluntarily ship their luggage from domestic air travel prior to departure. To be fair, we had a look at Universal Express’s Luggage Express pitch. They plan to charge $70 per piece of dropped off luggage of $85 per pick-up. In…

The Coalition calls on Congress

Our friends at the Coalition for Luggage Security are always good for a bit of amusement. On Thursday, they commented on the security breach at Orlando, where airline employees were able to travel with drugs and weapons to San Juan. They are calling for Congressional Hearings. We don’t necessarilly disagree with them that the situation…

The Coalition for Luggage Security is Back

The Coalition for Luggage Security issued a press release today, commenting on RFID baggage tagging. The Coalition believes luggage should be treated as cargo and that it should not be shipped on passenger flights. They fail to truly comment though on RFID though. RFID, as we’ve mentioned in the past, has great potential for improved…
