The FAA announced it intends to add more air traffic controllers to the midnight shift at 27 airports that are currently staffed by a lone controller. This follows the suspension of controllers at Washington National, Reno, Lubbock, and Seattle for falling asleep on the job. The situation prompted Henry Krakowski, who oversaw the ATC system, to resign over the situation.

JetBlue announced today the schedule for its Washington-National(DCA) service, now that it has secured slots at the airport. Service will begin on November 1st, with seven daily flights to Boston, and one each to Ft. Lauderdale and Orlando.
And that is the question. Do TSA Agents even know the rules their department has enacted? Or do they make them up as they go along? Or perhaps local supervisors impose rules on top of department-wide policy?
