  • Qatar Airways touched down at Washington-Dulles Airport last night in its maiden flight on the route from Doha. The Airbus 340 was greeted by a water salute.
  • Horizon Air has slashed fares from Idaho Falls to Seattle and Portland. Fares on the routes that were $183-$364 are now $139-$189 each way. All flights to the city will now be operated using their new Q400 turboprops.
  • Spirit Airlines launched service from Ft. Lauderdale to San Pedro Sula, Honduras today. Service will be three times weekly. The airlines is offering introductory fares of $9 each way to promote the service.
  • Virgin America have unveiled the airline’s Dish Network channel lineup. It will include: Independent Film Channel, CNBC, Arts & Entertainment, Black Entertainment Television, Cable News Network, The Discovery Channel, Entertainment Television, FX, The Food Network, The Travel Channel, Bravo, ESPN, ESPN NEWS, ESPN Classic, ESPN2, SiTV, USA Network, and Cartoon Network.
  • go! will be launching service to the airport at Ho’olehua, Moloka’i. It will be the seventh island destination in go!’s route network, which currently includes Honolulu, Lihue, Kahului, Kapalua, Kona and Hilo. The service will be operated as go!Express, under a code share agreement with Kona-based Mokulele Airlines.
  • Southwest executive chairman Herb Kelleher, best known as the face of the airline, and president Colleen Barrett will step down from their positions in 2008. Both are set to be employed by the airline for five years.
