Security Measures Increase Due to European Summer Security Issues

By | July 1, 2007

Bloomberg reports that increased security measures will delay summer travel for some passengers during this Independence Day week.

Police arrested two men at Glasgow airport yesterday after their Jeep Cherokee crashed into the terminal entrance and caught fire. They arrested five additional people since. The Glasgow attack came as police were conducting one of their biggest manhunts after dismantling two car bombs made from gas canisters, gasoline and nails left in the heart of London’s West End shopping and theater district two days ago.

As Bloomberg further reports, passengers arriving at the airports governed by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey were subject to random vehicle checks, which were causing delays in checking in.  The American Airlines terminal at Kennedy was evacuated this morning about 10:20 a.m. New York time after authorities discovered a suspicious package, but an all-clear was issued an hour later.

Essentially….be prepared and come early…
