  • ATA will be adding service from Chicago-Midway to Oakland and Ontario, effective May 11th.
  • ATA will also add service three times per week from Oakland to Kona, Hawaii effective June 14th. On June 15th, they will begin service four times weekly from Oakland to Lihui, Hawaii and daily nonstop service from Las Vegas to Maui, Hawaii.
  • Bloomberg reports that American will consider replacing its fleet of 300 MD-80s in the near future. The MD-80, being an older plane, is much less fuel efficient than similar modern aircraft, such as the 737-800, which is 20% more fuel efficient and a top candidate for American’s replacement program. American already operates 77 of this model in its fleet of 672 jets. American cannot wait any longer to start replacing the planes.
