The Flight Wisdom blog has migrated to a new server. The old one was slowing down page loads. Now the pages load fast and will hopefully continue to do so. Hope everyone enjoys the improvement.

  • Delta is continuing to adjust its Cincinnatti schedule. Effective July 1st, service to Asheville, Chattanooga, Valpariso, Westchester County will be terminated.
  • Delta will also add three daily flights between Memphis and and Dallas’ Love Field beginning July 6th.  The airline recently added new nonstop flights to Memphis from McAllen and Lubbock, Texas, proving they are not abandoning Northwest’s Memphis hub, as had previously been feared.
  • Delta is cancelling its service from Atlanta to Kuwait City, effective July 1st.
  • AirTran is scaling back service to Burlington, VT. The service will now be seasonal, and will halt from September through next April or May.
  • Finnair’s final flight operated with an MD-11 aircraft will be on February 28th, 2010, from Helsinki to Bangkok. The MD-11 has a history which dates back to 1990, the date of first delivery, and a legacy of predecessors before that. It will leave KLM as the sole operator of the MD-11 in regular passenger service.
  • Porter Airlines will be investing millions in a new terminal at Toronto City Centre Airport, as well as doubling its fleet to 18 aircraft. The terminal will include aircraft gates and office space when it opens in November. The full facility will be completed by spring 2010 and include 10 bridged aircraft gates, passenger lounges and U.S. and Canadian customs.

Things are changing. Airlines are cutting service in many forums, adjusting service in others. There is less service news than there used to be. But there is still plenty to talk about.
