Continental Airlines will charge a $15 fee for the first checked bag. This fee applies immediately to tickets bought for destinations in the United States and to flights between the U.S., Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and Canada for travel on or after October 7th.
Remember, those of you who purchased before Friday, September 5th for travel after October 7th should not be charged this fee, and should protest if you are, as it was not in place when you booked.
With Continental on the bandwagon with US Airways, American, United, Midwest, etc…it may not be long before all baggage incurs a charge. Personally, we think your fare should include at least one checked bag, considering all the things you cannot bring on the plane with you. But that is just us.
