Allegiant Review – Service and Synopsis

Allegiant Airlines has announced a score of new service in the last month that we’ve neglected to report on. It will launch a new base at Ft. Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport in November, and at Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport in October. Allegiant Air operates a fleet of MD82/83(150 seats) and MD87 aircraft(130 seats).

  • New Service Notes
    • Service from Greenville-Spartenburg, SC and Las Vegas will begin August 23, operating twice weekly.
    • Service between Huntsville, Alabama and Las Vegas will begin September 21st, operating twice weekly.
    • Service between Bangor, Maine and Orlando Sanford on November 7th, operating twice weekly.
    • The resumption of seasonal service between Bellingham, Washington and Palm Springs, beginning November 15th twice weekly.
    • Chicago-Rockford International Airport will receive service to Phoenix-Mesa on November 16th, and service to Ft. Lauderdale on December 14th. Both services will be twice weekly.
    • Service from Allentown to Ft. Lauderdale beginning November 14th, thrice weekly.
    • Service from Chattanooga to Ft. Lauderdale beginning December 13th, thrice weekly.
    • Rapid City, South Dakota will receive service to Phoenix-Mesa, beginning November 21st with two flights weekly.

A few facts about Allegiant

  • Baggage Allowance – Passengers wishing to check luggage will be charged a per person, per bag, per segment Baggage Transport Fee(They appear to be $3 online for the first bag, $5 for the second). All Baggage Transport Fees are non-refundable. Each bag must weight 50lbs or less. The outside measurements of each bag must not exceed eighty (80) inches. Each additional bag will be charged a fee of $50.00 per bag. Total number of bags allowed is not to exceed 4 per passenger.
    • Oversized Bags: Baggage weighing over 50lbs. will be assessed the following overweight baggage fees:
      • 51 lbs. – 70 lbs. = $25.00 per bag
      • 71 lbs. – 100 lbs. = $50.00 per bag
      • Baggage over 100 lbs. is considered to be cargo; Allegiant does not transport cargo.
  • Allegiant Air does not overbook its flights.
  • Allegiant Air does not offer bereavement fares.
  • Allegiant charges a $5 per segment booking fee for bookings by phone.
  • You can pre-purchase seat assignments for $11 per segment.
