  • Aeromexico today began offering flights from Austin, Texas to Mexico City daily, increasing from four times weekly. Service will now be operated by an Embraer 145 regional jet.
  • L’Avion, the all business French airline, will be offering a second flight from Newark to Paris Orly using a 757-200 with 90 seats starting for the winter season.
  • American Airlines is adding new service from Ft. Lauderdale to San Jose, Costa Rica and Santo Domino, Dominican Republic. Service will be operated with 148-seat Boeing 737-800s. American will also upgrade one of its three daily flights from Ft. Lauderdale to San Juan with a 267-seat Airbus 300, with the others flown using a 188-seat 757.
  • Horizon Air will be adding service by adding more flights or replacing smaller aircraft.
    • Effective September 9th
      • Eugene, OR – A fourth daily Q200 flight from Portland will be added. The current four Q200 flights to Seattle will change to Q400s…a sixty percent increase in available seats.
      • Kiamath Falls – A fourh daily Q200 flight to Portland will be added.
      • North Bend/Coos Bay – A fourth daily Q200 flight to Portland will be added.
      • Pasco – One Q400 flight will replace a Q200, resulting in four Q200 and three Q400 flights to Seattle, an 11 percent capacity increase.
    • Effective September 23rd
      • Redmond/Bend – Two out of three Q200 flights to Seattle will be replaced with Q400s, a 40 percent increase.
    • Effective October 28th
      • Los Angeles – A third daily CRJ-700 flight to Portland will be added in addition to four flights operated by Alaska.
      • Santa Rosa – New nonstop Q400 service will be added to Portland once daily, as well as a third daily Q400 flight to Los Angeles
  • Southwest raised fares by $10 on longhaul flights of more than 1250 miles, with $1, $3, and $5 on short and medium haul flights. The increase was matched by many of Southwest’s legacy competitors in comparable markets. Southwest said it upped its fares to offset the soaring price of jet fuel. The airline’s fuel hedges are gradually winding down.
