  • Lufthansa announced it would begin nonstop service from Orlando to Frankfurt on October 30th, using an Airbus 330-300 aircraft in a three class configuration. The flight will operate from Tuesday through Sunday.
  • American Airlines announced it will apply for the right to operate from Chicago O’Hare to Beijing effective March 25th, 2009. American had previously applied for the right to serve China from Dallas in the last round of China service bidding.
  • American also announced that is has accelerated the delivery of six Boeing 737-800 aircraft into the first half of 2009, continuing the replacement process for the MD-80 fleet. American intends to continue pulling forward deliveries of the remainder of the 47 737 aircraft from their current 2013-2016 delivery schedules into the 2009-2012 timeframe.
  • Jetblue is expanding its service. Yesterday, they announced service from Buffalo to Ft. Lauderdale….now it is Syracuse to Ft. Lauderdale with their Embraer 190. We think this is a sign that, as we suggested, they are basing the Embraer 190 in Florida. We could see some short-haul routes out of there as well. Once daily service will begin November 1st.
  • Jetblue also began service today from Boston to San Diego. On Saturday, it will begin service to Aruba from Boston.
  • Delta has announced it will expand service to Central America and the Caribbean from New York. Service to Panama City, Panama, effective Dec. 13, 2007; Guatemala City, Guatemala, effective Dec. 14, 2007; Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, effective Dec. 20, 2007; Liberia, Costa Rica, effective Feb. 16, 2008; San Jose, Costa Rica, effective Feb. 15, 2008.
