  • The Star Alliance has launched a Visit South Africa campaign to “promote travel to Southern Africa and underscore the wide choice of flight connections to the African continent provided by the Star Alliance member carriers to US and Canadian traveler.” They want to highlight how easy it is to plan your dream trip to Africa.
  • US Airways has lowered fares from Asheville, NC to 17 destinations, with reductions on walkup fares of up to 51 percent.
  • American Airlines is working with Great Lakes Aviation to reestablish American Connection service from St. Louis to Burlington, Iowa; Decatur, Marion, Springfield and Quincy, Ill.; and Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. This service was previously operated by RegionsAir, which terminated March 8th over FAA issues. Once the schedule is finished, the new flights will go on sale. American Airlines will not be reestablishing AmericanConnection service to three cities for which Great Lakes Aviation was not selected as the Essential Air Service carrier: Cape Girardeau, Mo.; Jackson, Tenn.; and Owensboro, Ky.
  • Porter Air, will add summer service to Halifax from Toronto City Centre Airport from June 29th until Sept. 4th with four daily flights, two via Ottawa and two via Montreal. To accomodate this, Ottawa-Toronto service will reduced from ten daily flights to six, and Montreal-Toronto service from nine to six daily.

  • South African Airways announced summer service to Kilimanjaro, Tanzania from Johannesburg from July 7th through September 29th once weekly on Saturdays.
  • Frontier will become the first airline to fly from Denver to Jacksonville with daily nonstop service beginning June 15th. It was the largest market not served nonstop from Denver.
