  • Beginning May 1st, Midwest will launch new service from Kansas City to Columbus. In addition, Midwest Connect flights out of Milwaukee to Flint, Dayton, Duluth, Louisville, and Pittsburgh will be upgraded to larger aircraft. This will eliminate 19-seater turboprops from these routes. All routes will be operated by Midwest Connect with either 32-seater Fairchild 328 regional jets(operated by Midwest subsidiary Skyway airlines) or 50 seat Canadair Regional jets(operated by Skywest Airlines). Don’t forget Midwest offers chocolate chip cookies baked onboard.
  • Delta Airlines will offer more than 5900 additional seats between Lousville and Atlanta, Cincinatti, and New York for the Kentucky Derby. Between May 3rd and May 6th, Delta will add flights and upgrade some regional jets to MD-88s or 737-800s on the Atlanta and Cincinatti hubs, and add daily regional service from JFK and LaGuardia.   • Frontier will inaugurate service between Dallas/Ft. Worth and Mazatlan, Mexico effective June 7th, now that they have received DOT approval, three days a week – Monday, Thursday, and Saturday. Dallas is the 11th Frontier city offering service to Mexico. Frontier offerrs eight Mexican destinations. Fares are currently on sale for the route through March 28th for travel through August 14th.
  • Perhaps in response to the recent announcement that Pan Am Clipper connection will be service New Haven, US Airways has released a round of fare reductions from New Haven, with advance purchase fares going as low as $59.
