Orders Dry Up for Big Planes

By | December 18, 2014

The people over at Jalopnick’s Flight Club have noted that orders for both the Boeing 747 and the Airbus A380 are minimal.

No one ordered the Boeing 747-8 this year, and they have two cargo versions they did build waiting for a buyer. Boeing is reducing production to 16 per year, from 24 over a year ago. There are only 39 747s on the order books.

Airbus has received no orders this year for the Airbus A380. Their backlog is over in three years.

Many airlines are switching to twin engine aircraft from the four engined 747 and 380.
