ExpressJet to Operate Standalone Flights

By | February 3, 2007

Expressjet, best known for operating Continental regional flights, will be operating flights under its own name, due to decreased demand for its services. Expressjet is painfully aware of the lessons of Independence Air…whose independence did not last as long as many had hoped.

The service will launch in April, and online reservations will be available soon. Until then…you can call 1-888-958-XJET(9538). By serving underserved markets that currently have no nonstop service between them, it will distinguish itself from other carriers. Independence’s mistake might have been that it launched from Washington-Dulles…already a hub of a powerful airline like United.

By defocusing itself…it has a better chance of filling niches without facing competition that will force it to keep its fares below costs. We will continue to monitor them with interest.
