On an Empty Plane, Is It Weird To Choose To Sit Near Other Passengers?

By | February 16, 2024

Chef Anthony Thomas recently flew on a Southwest flight that was nearly empty. Southwest Airlines has open seating, and passengers can choose where to sit when they board. As seen in his tweet below, Thomas took a seat, and, out of dozens of empty rows, the only other passenger on the plane chose the seat directly behind him. Thomas obviously thought this was odd, and judiging by the over 37 million views of his tweet, so did many others. A few commenters tried to defend the other passenger, suggesting that flying alone migh be creepy. What do you think?
