Jetblue Flight Diverted to Philadelphia

By | February 28, 2007

Jetblue cannot seem to catch a break. The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports that Jetblue Flight 1050 from Pittsburgh to JFK was diverted to Philadelphia. The pilot was responding to a “Wing Anti-Ice Fault” indicator, which Jetblue procedure requires a plane not to land in locations with icing conditions…at the time, JFK.

Fifty-four passengers and four crew members were onboard, including 20 members of a college basketball team. Because Jetblue has no arrangement with Philadelphia Airport, passengers who deplaned would not have been able to reboard. The basketball team arranged a bus back to school, about 12 others deplaned and sought other transportation, and the remainder were put on a Jetblue-hired bus to JFK.

Unlike previous situations, it is reported that the crew kept the passengers informed and even picked up food from Mcdonalds for those who waited for the Jetblue bus, which arrived around 1PM. The plane landed at Philly at 8:35AM.
