Bombardier to Reconsider 110-seater aircraft

By | November 30, 2006

Pierre Beaudoin, president of Bombardier Aerospace, said the company, known for its Canadair Regional Jets, the Learjet, and its Q400 Next-Generation Turboprop, seat the company expects to decide by January 31st whether it will go ahead with a $2 billion project to develop its CSeries passenger jet. Last January, Beaudoin announced it would not develop the CSeries…but a team at Bombardier continued work on the project in the event of a revival in the future. It has since emphasized a program of stretching the Canadair Regional Jet and the Q400 to accommodate more passengers.

A 100+ aircraft would have Bombardier competing in the regular jet market with Airbus and Boeing. It would, however, be a departure from its current production of regional jets and turboprops.
