Policing the Skies

The Travel Security Blog reports on the training given to air marshals.

Given reports of what has caused these highly trained individuals to break cover and take charge of a situation, ie passengers who don’t obey the fasten seatbelt sign…we are curious about how the recent news that the marshals will now be allowed to dress to blend in.

Considering that even with the casual dress, air marshals are still easy to spot, due to the fact that even in civilian attire they must make themselves known to security staff, the flight attendants, and preboard in a very visible manner, we are unsure of their effectiveness as undercover personnel when they are that visible.
